If you’ve haven’t heard yet, the winner of this season’s “So You Think You Can Dance” is Utahn Sabra Johnson. She took home the $250,000 prize and the title of “America’s favorite dancer.”
It seems that many of America’s best dancers have come from Utah, and they continue to win TV competitions and impress audiences. Johnson’s win is the second time in three months that a Utah dancer has won a TV competition. Speedskater Apolo Anton Ohno and his Utah-born partner, Julianne Hough, won the “Dancing With the Stars” title this May.
Two other contestants from Utah, Allison Holker and Jaymz Tuaileva from Orem, made it to the top 20 on “So You Think You Can Dance.”
Interestingly, Julianne Hough, former “Dancing With the Stars” contestant Ashley DelGross, and “So You Think You Can Dance” top twenty contestant Jaymz Tuaileva studied dance at the Center Stage Dance Studio in Orem, Utah.
Besides the two contestants from Orem, Utah, there are also two dancers who are LDS on the “So You Think You Can Dance” show, last season’s winner Benji Schwimmer and his cousin Heidi Groskreutz.
Maybe there is something in the water that makes Utah produces such great dancers (like the way Brazil produces such gorgeous models). Or maybe Utahns are just very artistically incilned and work hard to become America’s favorite dancers. Either way, keep an eye out for more Utahns to pop up on TV reality shows.
