Props to Mitt Romney for an intelligent, respectful, and dignified response to Reverend Al Sharpton’s ridiculous, now infamous, “Mormon” comment. For those of you who are politically challenged, I will recap. Sharpton made the following remark during a debate: “As for the one Mormon running for office, those who really believe in God will defeat him…” Sharpton claims the remark was misconstrued and taken out of context. Give me a break, Al, we all know about the Don Imus debacle. Sharpton is nothing more than walking hypocrisy.
Romney responded saying he doubts Sharpton is personally a bigot but can see how the unfortunate comment could be described as bigoted. But wait, there’s more. Sharpton has shot back accusing the Romney camp of “a blatant effort to fabricate a controversy to help their lagging campaign.” Are you serious? Sharpton is the one who made the ridiculous comment and any attempts (aside from a direct apology) he makes to cover himself only makes him look even more absurd and pompous. Either way, Romney comes out shining on this one.
