Gordon B. Hinckley ~ 1910-2008

January 28th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Gordon B. Hinckley, President and Prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, passed away Sunday evening, at his home in Salt Lake City at the age of 97.

President Hinckley presided over the church for nearly 13 years and was known the world over for his steadfast faith and touching the lives of many, particularly the youth of the church. He is often credited with largely introducing the Mormon faith into mainstream media; he appeared on a number of well-known media outlets including 60 Minutes and Larry King Live. President Hinckley’s wife, Majorie Pay, passed away in 2004.

We send our condolences and well-wishes to his family, who are in our thoughts and prayers.

In lieu of flowers or if you wish to give a memorial gift in President Hinckey’s honor, the family has asked you make contributions to the Perpetual Education Fund.

I am not a member of the LDS faith, but I have a great amount of respect for the man. He did so much not only for the Utah community but throughout the world. Best wishes to his family.

He was an extraordinary man that did so much good for the world. He’ll be missed, but now he can finally be with his wife again. God Bless!
