According to KSL.com, Dr. Robert Jeffress, a Baptist minister located in Dallas, Texas, bashed on Mitt Romney, saying “Mitt Romney is a Mormon, and don’t let anybody tell you otherwise. Even though he talks about Jesus as his Lord and Savior, he is not a Christian.” (Jeffress also aknowledged that he would probably get in trouble for saying that.) He also said the LDS church was a cult.

Huh? Not a Christian? Apparently Dr. Jeffress doesn’t know any Mormons. The name of their church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, says it all.

Whether Dr. Jeffress agrees with LDS church teachings and beliefs is besides the point. Christian-based faiths follow the teachings of Jesus Christ as outlined in the Bible. This is something the LDS church does.

At any rate, we shouldn’t expect any response from LDS church leaders. Dr. Jeffress isn’t the first person to question the Christian beliefs of Mormons, nor will he be the last. It’s just sad that a so-called “Christian” minister would go against what Jesus Christ taught – love, kindness, and tolerance. Now I think some people will question whether Jeffress is a true Christian since he doesn’t follow those teachings.
