Traffic Report…or Sunday School?

Update: I emailed the radio station to figure out if this story is a spoof or really happened. What confuses me is that I can’t find any mention of a “Christy Snow” on the FM100 website. As Gthing pointed out, though, this is Utah so it’s probably spelled “Krysteigh” or something like that.

If you are at all familiar with Mormon culture, you will find the audio clip in the following link hilarious! I don’t want to spoil it, you’ll just have to listen, but if you are a member of the Church, you’ll certainly appreciate it…haven’t we all done it at one point or another? Carmen Rasmussen is…boring

I was listening to 101.5 The Beagle…Salt Lake Snoopy! this morning (local country station), and they were interviewing Carmen Rasmussen of American Idol fame. (She’s a local Utahn.) No, she didn’t win. I think she said she came in 6th place a few season ago. Apparently, she’s been working for a long time for a record deal, and finally, she got one. They played her new song on the radio this morning, and I had high hopes because American Idol has produced some very talented musicians with great albums. (There are the obvious like Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, and then the lesser known Josh Gracin, who has some great songs.) Rasmussen’s first single, “Nothin’ Like the Summer,” was played this morning on the radio, and I was disappointed. It was boring, and her voice didn’t even sound that good. It should be a “straight to elevator” release. Hopefully the other songs will be better, and not as sleep-inducing, as I usually listen to the radio when I’m driving.

Red Bull needs a new radio ad – or marketing team.

So I was driving to work this morning, listening to the radio, and an interesting commercial came on. It was a woman with a shrill voice reprimanding one of her employees, whom she kept calling Mr. Bates. No first name – just Mr. Bates. (This is a little too close to Master Bates, if you ask me!) I kept trying to figure out the point of the commercial because the woman kept reprimanding her employee for having such a neat and clean desk. She told him drugs weren’t allowed at the workplace. She assumed that he was on drugs because his desk was so clean, and his work was getting done. (Is Meth becoming that prevalent here in Utah, if employers are assuming that when people work efficiently, it must be because they’re on Meth?) When he told her it was because he had a Red Bull (Finally! The point of the commercial!) she responded that beastiality was against office policies.

Huh?

Come on, Red Bull – you have to do better than that!

101.5 The Eagle considering alternate name

“101.5 The Eagle : Salt Lake City!” is rumored to be considering changing their nickname and jingle to:

”101.5 The Beagle! Salt Lake Snoopy!” We can’t figure out whether this is a joke but I have heard it from multiple people now – would a radio station really change their nickname and jingle to something so silly?

Anybody who could confirm or deny this rumor would be much appreciated.
