I realize that’s a potentially volatile title, but I’ll explain. I went up to the Salt Lake Business to Business Expo today. It was a well-put-together show, even if it didn’t have as much traffic as I had expected.
One thing that tops my pet peeve list for these shows is the number of freeloaders who […]

Utah Jazz Commercials - Directed by High Schoolers?
April 24th, 2007 · No Comments
So, as a fairweather Jazz fan, I was naturally watching their tough 0-2 start in the NBA finals this year against the Houston Rockets. Needless to say, I’m sad about the outcomes, but still hopeful for at least the first round of the series.
Now, that aside, I have to comment on the caliber of commercials […]

April 21st, 2007 · No Comments
For those of you out there who didn’t know (or maybe don’t care - in which case, this post means nothing to you), Ikea has set it’s grand opening date for it’s SSL store to be May 23rd. Ikea is famous for having, as my wife puts it, “really cute stuff” at affordable prices. So, […]

What’s up with Utah Morning Shows’ Names?
April 16th, 2007 · 1 Comment
Good Day Utah? Good Things Utah? I feel like I’m walking into a women’s organization. Is a guy even allowed to watch something called “Good Things *blank*?” Now, to be honest, I usually don’t have much time for TV in the morning. Maybe that’s what they’re banking on: guys going off to work so the […]
Armed Robbery in a Tanning Salon
April 14th, 2007 · No Comments
Maybe she was just tired of the cliché of robbing convenience stores, maybe she assumed the word “salon” meant they had more cash than they actually did, maybe she didn’t have the complicated machinery (read: gun) for any other heist. For whatever reason, a woman recently robbed a Murray Tanning Salon with a knife.
I guess […]

Travis Ashton - Going to China For Stem Cell Treatment
April 13th, 2007 · 2 Comments
The radio hit a commercial break the other day and I heard an ad come up for an a capella jam. It piqued my interest because I’m familiar with one of the performing groups. I then found out that the concert was being held to raise money for Travis Ashton, an American Fork boy who […]

Sick of library silence
April 12th, 2007 · No Comments
Apparently a 61-year-old lady sick of constant library shushing fired a gun in the Provo library on Tuesday.
Surprisingly that’s the not the most bizarre part of this story (we don’t like to be quiet either):
The library was not evacuated. Hundreds of people use the 300,000 volume, two-story library on a normal day, Nelson said.
Yes, you […]

This is our mayor?
April 12th, 2007 · 1 Comment
On May 4′th Mayor Rocky Anderson and conservative Sean Hannity will have a public debate - I’m so glad we’re paying this guy’s salary.
Remember when politics were about representing the constituency, approving reasonable legislation and helping an area grow economically? Apparently Utah’s mayor has forgotten those days and is more interested in the celebrity of […]

Mari Osmond Divorce
April 11th, 2007 · No Comments
So Marie Osmond is officially divorcing her 2′nd husband, Brian Blosil, after 20 years of marriage. OK, this is largely a non-issue - celebrity divorces are planned at the altar, right?
My bigger issue is how did the Marie Osmond doll collection become so popular? Or is it? I’m going to hope that in some crazy […]

Rafting Robbers - A Provo Credit Union Heist Goes Wrong
April 11th, 2007 · No Comments
The Salt Lake Tribune reports a story about some robbers who intended to steal money from a credit union on Canyon Rd in Provo. The attempt was foiled by one of their accomplices who was actually a confidential informant. This isn’t usually much of a story and wouldn’t be even worth mentioning except in light […]
